Over the centuries the snake belt design has proven to be very popular, and is considered to typically represent the dual expression of good and evil. The initial design date of the double headed snake clasp is uncertain, but this serpentine form may have existed as far back as medieval times.

Snake Buckles gained common popularity, or at least recorded popularity, when worn on sword belts by soldiers from former British colonies.

More prosaically, they were recently favoured in early to mid C20th by small boys who wore them to hold up their baggy school shorts and to provide somewhere to tuck their catapults.

These belts adjust to fit waist sizes 22" - 34" and are narrower than the adult version
